Killary Flyer is a German Freres designed 49' aluminium yacht. Built in 1979 for the Admiral's Cup, she was firstly called Noryema, then Hesperia. Jamie and Mary Young purchased the boat some years ago, and it is now based in Killary fjord, Connemara, licensed for charter with up to 12 passengers.

A fairly typical IOR hull design of its time Killary Flyer had a cruising interior which was above and beyond what was generally found in a late 70's racing yacht, and certainly by todays minimalist, lightweight standards.

As the photographs on the right show, in its heyday Killary Flyer would have been crewed by as many as 12 people - which makes for challenging short-handed sailing in a boat of this size.

The name Noryema came from owner Ron Amey (geddit?!?). The 1979 boat was one of many Noryemas he had commissioned for Admiral's Cup racing, of varying designs and successes.
